MIRANSHAH: The outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have said that they will again make an attempt to kill Malala Yousafzai whenever they have a chance, adding that the organisation will “feel proud killing her”.

“She was against Islam and we tried to kill her, and if we get a chance again we will definitely try to kill her, and we will feel proud killing her,” the TTP spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid told a foreign news agency.

Malala Yousafzai was shot for campaigning for girls’ education as she made her way home from school in Pakistan’s northwestern Swat Valley on October 9, 2012. After the shooting, she was flown to Britain for specialist treatment at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Malala first rose to prominence during the Taliban’s 2007-09 rule in Swat valley with a blog for the BBC Urdu service chronicling the rigours of daily life under the militants.

“She even used a fake name of Gul Makai to write a diary. We attacked Malala because she was used to speak against Taliban and Islam and not because she was going to school,” Shahid said.
