PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The return of Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) of the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) will commence from March 16, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan announced on Saturday.
In a press conference along with Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Hidayat-ur-Rehman in Peshawar on Saturday evening, the governor said that in the first phase, 2,500 families of Tehsil Sararogha and Sarwakai of South Waziristan agency will return to their homes.
The governor said that return of 20,000 families of Akka Khel area of Tehsil Bara of Khyber agency will start from March 20 whereas return of 18,000 families of Tehsil Mir Ali of North Waziristan agency will commence from March 31.
In addition, he said that the entire process of TDPs return and rehabilitation requires a sum of Rs80 billion.
The KPK governor also lauded the sacrifices rendered by the Pakistan armed forces in war against terrorism and restoration of peace in tribal areas.
