ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Wednesday expressing deep grief over the terrorist attack in Quetta, reiterated that the whole nation, the government and the national security institutions were united to annihilate the scourge of terrorism.
Speaking in the National Assembly, the Prime Minister said such cowardly attacks could not falter the strong resolve of the nation.
He said the government was committed to ensure a prosperous and stable Pakistan which was also a vision of the Quaid-e-Azam and all political parties.
The Prime Minister said the political and military leadership had vowed to ensure peace and tranquility in the country besides implementing the National Action Plan (NAP).
Pakistan, today was more secure and stable when compared with the yester years, he added.
The terrorist attacks, he said, had infused new vigour and added determination in the resolve to root out terrorism.
Condemning the terrorist attacks and the ideology behind such inhuman acts, the Prime Minister said such dogmas in the past had snuffed out lives of Benazir Bhutto, innocent people in Safora Ghot tragedy, Peshawar church, children of Army Public School etc.
He said the enemy had targeted the notable and prominent personalities in the country, besides killing minorities.
The Prime Minister called upon the nation to forge unity to defeat terrorists’ designs.
He reiterated that they would not rest till elimination of terrorism.
Referring to the Quetta carnage, he said the enemy had targeted former president of Balochistan High Court, journalists, people and the civil society people through a planning. The tragic incident had left the whole nation in pain, he added
He said such a mindset was involved in such heinous activities that did not tolerate the improved law and order situation in the province.
Such mindset did not assimilate the progress and prosperity of the country and the mega development projects like the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he added.
The Prime Minister stressed on forging unity and said they would deliver a decisive blow to all the enemies of the country.
Lauding efforts and sacrifices of the national security institutions, he said they were securing the borders, besides protecting the people from enemies and terrorists inside.
The Prime Minister said all the institutions were carrying out their responsibilities excellently.
He said on one hand, the armed forces of Pakistan were ensuring the security but on the other hand, the country’s security agencies were foiling hundreds of enemies’ designs and plans which were aimed at destabilizing and targeting the national institutions and people.
Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a high level meeting in Islamabad to review the security situation.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Ishaq Dar, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, National Security Adviser Nasir Janjua, Secretary Foreign Affairs Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry and other senior officials.
