ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The textile group exports fell by 8.93 percent to $6.269 billion in first half of current fiscal year (2015-16) as compared to the exports of $6.884 billion in same period of last year.
On month-on-month basis, the textile group exports increased by 8.2 percent to $1.04 billion in December as compared to the pervious month’s (November, 2016) exports of $961.455 million.
On year-on-year basis the exports also decreased by 11.21 pc in December against the exports of $1.171 billion in December, 2014.
According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Cotton yarn export declined by 29.66 pc to $697.764 million in first six months of current fiscal year from $992.056 million in same period of last year.
Similarly the cotton cloth export also decreased by 10.24 pc from $1.237 billion in July-December (2014-15) to $1.11 billion in same period of current fiscal year.
The export of knitwear dipped to $1.2 billion in July-December (2015-16) from $1.236 billion in Firs half of the year 2014-15 thus showing an decrease of 3.05 percent.
Likewise the export of bed wear declined by 7.47 pc as the export fell from $1.073 billion in July-December (2014-15) to $993.451 million in same period of current year.
The export of towel however registered an increase of 4.56 pc as it went up from $380.823 million in July-December (2014-15) to $396.196 million in first half of 2015-16.
Readymade garments’ export also went up from $1.006 billion in July-December (2014-15) to $1.044 billion in same period of current year thus showing an increase of 3.85 pc.
