Not just this, but some online portals and websites run entirely on offering international makeup and beauty brands in Pakistan. This has become not only a profitable business, but a must for beauty lovers to indulge in. Long gone are the days when people only looked after local brands to meet their beauty needs. It is now the race of getting your hands before anyone else on that new highlighter or lipstick palette. Unfortunately, in the midst of this all, we have forgotten the essential that thing must be checked. And that is, whether the brand we are investing in is Halal or not.

Some Makeup & Beauty Brands That Are Not Halal

Recently, I have been researching the ingredients of the famous makeup and beauty products in Pakistan, outsourced from different countries around the world, which are not permissible as per Islamic. This is why I have compiled a list of those brands that you should watch out for:

Huda Beauty

There was a huge hue and cry back in the day when Huda Kattan herself replied in the comment of a tweet that Huda Beauty is not halal. Essentially, one can already know that since it does not have a Halal-certification. This implies that the ingredients used might be sourced from questionable animals that are not allowed in Islam.

When we apply makeup like lipstick, there are high chances of consuming it. This means that we might be ingesting something that has a haram ingredient in it. So, one must watch out for Huda Beauty and look after ingredients just to make sure if they are permissible or not.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics

Jeffree Star Cosmetics

Just like Huda Beauty, Jeffree Star Cosmetics is another brand that does not have halal certification and hence cannot be considered permissible to be used. It has a wide range of lipsticks that are especially harmful if you ingest them.

Among Huda Beauty and Jeffree Star, there are other popular names like Kat von D, Cover Girl, and some products of L’Oréal among others that are not considered Halal.

Olay Oil-Based Skincare Products

Olay is essentially a brand that offers halal products, especially to Islamic regions. However, some of the Olay products especially the ones with the oil are derived from pork fat that is clearly not allowed to be used.

Hence, it has been recommended not to use the products that contain oil, and they should not be applied to the face as well.

Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick

Revlon is a well-known brand and has a good name in the Pakistani market. You can use all their products except the Ultra HD lipstick that has the Carmine red color. It is obtained from an insect that is considered Haram since the only locust is Halal. Check the ingredients and if it has Carmine in it, which definitely means that you should not be using it.

Now that you know, watch out for these brands and thoroughly check the list of ingredients before applying them.
