BEIJING, China: The three-day annual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum will begin in Beijing on Saturday with its theme ‘Shaping the Future Through Asia-Pacific Partnership’.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is representing Pakistan at the APEC meeting which will feature in-depth discussions on topics including economic reform, new economy, innovative growth, inclusive support and urbanization.
Other key topics to be discussed include China’s initiatives of the Silk Road Economic Belt, the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and establishing the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Qin Gang said that foreign attendees to the dialogue include Bangladesh’s President Abdul Hamid, Lao President Choummaly, Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, Myanmar President U Thein Sein, Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the executive secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Shamshad Akhtar and the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Dmitry Mezentsev.
