ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has decided to unblock the video-sharing application TikTok.
“TikTok is being unlocked after assurance from management that they will block all accounts repeatedly involved in spreading obscenity and immorality,” the PTA said in a statement on Monday.
The PTA said that TikTok will moderate the account in accordance with the local laws.
TikTok was blocked in Pakistan on October 9 over a number of complaints from different segments of the society against immoral/indecent content on the video-sharing application.
Later on October 12, the Senior Management of TikTok held a virtual meeting with the PTA Chairman Major General (retd) Amir Azeem Bajwa and highlighted the efforts that were taken besides sharing the future strategy to improve the content moderation in line with the laws of Pakistan.
