Top 5 Worst Pakistani Dramas with the most questionable content ever!

UncategorizedTop 5 Worst Pakistani Dramas with the most questionable content ever!

Every once in a while, you feel like supporting your own country’s creative content but end up feeling confused … maybe even a little disappointed. If you liked our list of top 10 Pakistani dramas then you’re going to love this list of top 5 worst Pakistani dramas even more because today we question the making of certain dramas that got famous on star power and only God knows what! With a content THAT questionable and storylines so loopy – we are unsure how the actors agreed to do them even if the directors and TV channels forgot what a good story should portray.

Without further ado, let’s jump right in;

1.      Mere Pass Tum Ho

It is rumoured that the drama had such a negative effect on some Pakistani men that they ended up harassing Ayeza Khan at an airport all while chanting ‘dou takay ki aurat’ at her. Ayeza and Danish both deny this claim, many witnesses back it up. Sadly, we don’t have any evidence to be sure if anything did happen or not.

Mere pass tum ho highlights women as gold diggers and in a society where violence against women is only growing each day – it concerns us if it was even made for just entertainment purposes.

2.      Pyar k Sadkay

While this drama had a certain cuteness to it with Yumna Zaidi’s innocent character it does make us question its content as well. However, it follows the trope that a wife will forgive anything of her husband as long as he comes to his senses and apologises for leaving her for someone else.

Pyar k Sadkay begins by categorizing women;

  • gharelu and shareef – manic pixie dream girl who exists just for her man’s happiness
  • modern and proud – the manipulative one who keeps playing games until she’s learnt a lesson

This is one of the worst Pakistani dramas to have received a nationwide recognition and applause. It circles a dysfunctional family, fragile masculinity and how most women including mature old ones are too stupid to see through their evil husband’s schemes. If you know please also let us know that what exactly are we trying to teach the society with it?

3.      Nand

If you’re already familiar with all kinds of negative ‘phupo-memes’ this drama is just that but in a more extended format. Nand is focused on ensuring distance and paranoia among bhabis and their nands for sure. Children who watch it will be so sure their phupos are evil and the negativity around phupos will be carried forward like a taco Tuesday tradition.

4.      Haqeeqat

If cringe had a physical form it will be this scene from the drama Haqeeqat. The video went so viral that it split the internet into two parts – those who laughed and those who questioned the sanity of the director(s) and writers of this drama. After a lot of memes and discussions, the director said that the drama was made purely for entertainment purpose only (!?) and the plot opens up further as the drama progresses.

While we question how the brides never even saw a single image of their fiancés in today’s world – as always all the misunderstandings and misgivings in the story are because of a PHUPO. Again – why do we want to promote this trope so much?

5.      Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi

If you haven’t already enjoyed the cultural toxicity that Mera Saeein highlighted back in 2011 then maybe you can appreciate the class system and eccentricity this show brings to its viewers. The drama is still on-air and hasn’t ended yet but with each new episode, we see a new reason to want to put our eyes and ears in a tub filled with Dettol.

Even if it shows that the lead character played by Danish Taimoor, miraculously, becomes a better version of himself because he’s in love – we are not here for it. It reminds us of Kabir Singh (yet another misogynistic movie) and star plus.
