ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Heavy monsoon downpours continue to lash intermittently in most parts of the country while a few casualties have also been reported from different areas during the torrential rain.
According to reports, three children were killed and two others sustained injured when the roof of their house caved in Haripur.
In Lahore, at least eight persons were killed and six others sustained injuries in rain-related incidents as the city received heavy rain that started early Wednesday morning and caused miseries to the dwellers as rainwater inundated the low-lying areas.
The whole area of Mughal Pura, Dharam Pura, Domoria bridge Haji Impress road, lakshmi Chowk, Gulberg, kazafi stadium and Underpasses inundated with flash flood due to which the traffic was gridlock.
Similarly, at least four people were trapped under debris as roof of their house collapsed in Anarkali bazaar in Faisalabad during the torrential rain.
In Karachi‚ heavy downpour occurred in Saddar‚ I. I. Chundrigar Road‚ Nazimbad‚ Liaquatabad and other surrounding localities.
Moreover, in Rawalpindi special control rooms have been established to monitor possible flood situation in Nullah Leh are on high alert to cope with any emergency situation.
According to TMA sources‚ control rooms are working round the clock and monitoring the situation.
According to the met department, Islamabad has received 202 millimeter rain, Rawalpindi 103 millimeter while Lahore has received 136 millimeter rain since this morning.
