LAHORE, Pakistan: Punjab Forest Department has so far planted more than 700,000 saplings out of the target of 9 million under Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign which is 78 percent of the target.
This was said by Chief Conservator of Forests Central Zone, Rana Shabbir Ahmed while presiding over a meeting regarding Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign-2015.
He said that the tree plantation target would be achieved before December 31.
The meeting was told that a target of plantation of 3,750,000 saplings was set for government forests out of which 2,205,000 saplings have been planted.
The Defense institutions have surpassed their target of 400,000 and planted 1,193,000 saplings.
Similarly, out of the target of 4,250,000 set for private lands, 2,826,000 saplings have been planted.
Rana Shabbir stressed upon the officers to accelerate the pace of tree plantation so that the target could be achieved with in the set time.
Chief Conservator of Forests was informed that under Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign, Forest Department has arranged 25 tree plantation walks, 21 publicity stalls, 12 lectures, seven radio talks, 16 anti-dengue campaigns besides 61 group plantation ceremonies so far.
