ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday reiterated the resolve to take the trial against the former military dictator General (retd) Pervez Musharraf to its logical conclusion.
Talking to media representatives outside the Accountability Court in Islamabad, Nawaz Sharif said Pervez Musharraf was an absconder but a day would come when he would be brought to justice.
Nawaz Sharif said now situation had changed, and it was a fact that accountability of everyone should be conducted and it would happen at all costs.
The former prime minister further said the Head of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) – formed to probe Panama allegations – Wajid Zia was now himself rejecting allegations leveled against him.
In reply to a question, Nawaz Sharif said the Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar should have stood by his word ‘Fariyadi’, if he had used that. He said the words like ‘Fariyadi’ did not suit the Office of the Chief Justice, adding even the Chief Justice shouldn’t have said that he (the prime minister) came to him.
Earlier in the morning, Nawaz Sharif accompanied by Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar reached the Accountability Court for hearing of NAB references. The JIT head Wajid Zia also reached the Court.
