Monitoring Desk: “Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is now using a new brand name of Tehrik-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP) for attacking Pakistan.”

This was observed by experts in PTV World Show “Views on News with Jawad Tehami” on Wednesday. The show was joined by foreign affairs and defence affairs experts like Ambassador (retd) Nasir Ali Khan Brig (retd) Mahmood Shah and Shazia Anwer Cheema. The show was anchored by senior journalist and anchorperson Jawad Tehami.

They also maintained that no other country in the region (Central Asian republics, Iran and China) tried to negotiate with terrorists except Pakistan and it was a sheer blunder of the previous government of PTI and this move provided time and resources to TTP terrorists for regrouping and for resettling their families in Pakistan and after safe passage to their families they broke the truce and started attacking law enforcing agencies of Pakistan including Pakistan army.

They were of the view that helps that the United States had offered Pakistan counterterrorism but this support should be taken with care because the US left Afghanistan in August 2021 after facing a defeat and the US could come back to the region by offering Pakistan support to deal with the TTP issue.

Foreign Affairs experts Shazia Anwer Cheema observed that the responsibility for the attack in Baluchistan on Monday was taken by a new organization namely Tehrik-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP) by sending a letter to CNN and Pakistani media did not cover this very important aspect because this TJP could be a new brand name of TTP because Pakistan has been putting pressure on Afghan interim government to handle with TTP issue and now if a new organization started attacking Pakistan then neither Afghan Taliban nor TTP would take responsibility and Pakistan would not be in a position to ask Afghan interim government to find and neutralize members of this new organization. She was of the view this was a new tricky situation Pakistan would face soon.

Shazia added that TJP sent an email to CNN claiming that the group was formed on February 23 in order to “establish an Islamic system in Pakistan” through the use of “armed Jihad.” This is the first major attack by the group in the country.
