Monitoring: Construction of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan- Pakistan power transmission line is taking progress according to plan.

The Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan Charymyrat Purchekov has presented progress report on the implementation of the project for the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line to the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Turkmenistan, reports Trend News Agency.

According to Trend News Agency, ‘Turkmenistan’ TV channel reported that Energy Minister Purchekov presented his report via a video-conference to the President Berdimuhamedov.

Trend reported that President Berdimuhamedov ordered to the minister for Energy to keep under strict control the terms and quality of the construction work.

It may be mentioned that a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the implementation of this project was signed with Turkish Calik Holding A.S. to develop a legal basis for regional partnership for the construction of a 500-kilovolt transmission line along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline.

Grave Situation in Afghanistan

It is pertinent to mention that Power Transmission Line and gas pipeline is proposed to run in the troubled areas of Afghanistan before reaching to Pakistan and on-going civil war in Afghanistan is hampering all types of construction works because Taliban and US-sponsored Kabul government is yet to reach any agreement for peace. The recent peace initiative between United States and Taliban has apparently failed in Doha and Taliban have intensified attacks on Afghan and US forces during the last 10 days.
