KARACHI: At least seven people were killed and 20 others sustained injuries when two bombs went off at the same spot in a Bohri-dominated area in the Hyderi locality of North Nazimabad on Tuesday evening, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on 18 September, 2012.
In initial assessments, police officials suspected the involvement of the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi in the twin explosions.
The first explosion of low intensity took place at 7:25pm in a garbage dump near a Bohri Mosque. While a police vehicle was rushing to the spot, the second much more powerful explosion took place near a soup shop. It was the second explosion that killed and injured most passers-by belonging to the Bohri community, Superintendent of Police (SP) Latif Siddiqi of the Gulberg Division told Dispatch News Desk (DND).
SP Siddiqi said that the first blast was of low intensity, probably two kilogrammes of explosives, while the other bomb was planted in a motorcycle, a Unique CD-70, parked near the soup shop.
