ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Assembly was informed that two more Cantonments – military garrisons or camps administered by the Cantonment Boards under the control of the Military Lands & Cantonments Department (ML&C), Ministry of Defence – were under consideration to be established in Balochistan; Gwadar and Samungli.
In a written reply to a question asked by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khalida Mansoor in the House, the Minister for Defence Khurram Dastgir Khan told that two more Cantonments – Gwadar Cantonment and Samungli Cantonment- were proposed to be established by the federal government.
The defence minister also informed the Lower House that there were currently 44 Cantonment Boards throughout the Country.
Khurram Dastgir said as per now, Abbottabad, Bannu, Bahawalpur, Attock, Cherat, Dera Ismail Khan, Faisal, Zhob, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Jhelum, Karachi, Kharian, Kohat, Lahore, Malir, Mangla, Manora, Mardan, Loralai, Multan, Murree Hills, and Murree Gallis Cantonment Boards existed.
Likewise, the ministered added, other Cantonment Boards across the Country included Nowshera, Okara, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Risalpur, Sargodha, Shorkot, Sialkot, Taxila, Korangi Creek, Wah, Sanjwal, Kamra, Clifton, Havelian, Pano Aqil, Walton, Ormara, Chaklala and Swat.
