RIYADH: Two Pakistani men were beheaded on Monday in Saudi Arabia western city of Jeddah on armed robbery charges, the official SPA news agency quoting the interior ministry’s statement reported.
The execution came after the two men admitted to having set up a gang to rob bank customers at gunpoint, the report said.
Since beginning of 2013, a total of 54 people have been executed in Saudi Arabia, according to an count.
In 2012, 76 people were put to death by the Gulf country, according to an AF tally based on official figures. Human Rights Watch has put the number at 69.
Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are all punishable by death under Saudi Arabia’s strict Islamic laws.
