ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Senate was told on Tuesday that 716,892 Typhoid cases were reported in Pakistan during the period from 2016 to 2018.
In a written reply to a question about the rapidly increasing cases of typhoid in the Country, the Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination told the House that Typhoid fever is an endemic disease has always effected people in the Country.
The minister said that cases of typhoid are reported from health facilities throughout the Country via the District Health Information System (DHIS).
The minister for national health services told that 197,515 typhoid cases were reported in 2016 across the Country through the DHIS, 277,306 cases in 2017 and 242,071 cases in 2018.
Furthermore, he told that Typhoid fever is normally sensitive to broad spectrum antibiotics available across the Country.
Polio Cases in Pakistan in last three years
To another question, the minister told that Pakistan reported a total of eight polio cases in 2017, 12 in 2018 and 134 in 2019.
Sharing the province wise break-up of polio case in Pakistan in last three years, the minister told that in 2019, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa witnessed the most number of polio case followed by Sindh, wherein the numbers were recorded as 91 and 24 respectively.
