ISLAMABAD: US Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan James Dobbins arrives in Islamabad today on a two-day visit to Pakistan.
During his stay‚ he will hold talks with Pakistani leadership on the regional situation with particular reference to Afghanistan.
Dobbins is expected to brief the Pakistani leadership on his discussions in Doha and Kabul where he held meetings with the leaders of Afghan government and Taliban in an effort to salvage the peace process in Afghanistan.
Correspondents say the peace efforts virtually ran aground soon after the opening of the Taliban’s office in the Qatari capital due to controversies over the name of the office and flying of the Taliban flag.
