ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: University of Health Sciences (UHS) and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) have joined hands to defeat the deadly Coronavirus that wrought havoc across the globe.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between UHS, SZABMU, and PIMS for collaboration on various aspects of research in COVID-19.
The SZABMU/PIMS will be part of the ‘PROTECT STUDY’ group which has been launched nationwide in more than 20 centres.
The trial aims at various treatment modalities for COVID-19 and will be the largest trial to date.
The international community is looking towards Pakistan for the results and interim results will be available in six weeks.
The collaboration will also continue in other aspects like vaccine development and convalescent plasma infusion.
It was also decided that a clinical trial unit will be established at SZABMU and PIMS.
UHS will offer collaboration and services in any other field necessary for research and education.
