ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and the United Kingdom on Thursday signed the UK-Pakistan Prisoner Transfer Agreement in Islamabad.
The agreement was signed by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew and Interior Secretary Azam Suleman Khan.
The Minister of State for Interior Shahryar Afridi and the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar were also present on the occasion.
The agreement was approved during the British Home Secretary Sajid Javid’s visit to Pakistan in September 2018.
Meanwhile in a tweet, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan termed the agreement an important step for Pakistan and UK, which will allow prisoners of each to serve their sentences in their home Country.

Mirza Shahzad Akbar also termed the agreement another landmark achievement in Pakistan-UK bilateral relations.
“We hope that New Year takes our mutual cooperation towards enhancing mutual cooperation in multiple areas for betterment of our governments and people,” he said.
