Monitoring Desk: To keep the running wheel of life and support agri-food industry, Ukraine has devised rules to operate agri-food markets, reports Ukrainian News Agency.

In a story written by Anna Rudyk, it is stated that the Ministry of Health has approved the rules for the operation of agri-food markets, which will be checked daily, during the quarantine period.

This is stated in the decree of the chief state sanitary doctor No. 14 of April 27, Ukrainian News reports. The decision will come into force on April 29.

In particular, the market must be registered as a food market operator. It may be noted that Ukraine is an Agricultural based economy and is the food basket of entire Europe.

Admission to the market of workers, sellers and buyers should be carried out exclusively subject to the availability of personal protective equipment and passing temperature screening, and at each entrance to the market there should be a dispenser with an antiseptic.

At the same time, no more than 1 buyer per 10 square meters should be on the market. m, the distance between the jobs of sellers – at least 3 m.

Trading venues should be equipped with protective screens between sellers and buyers.

Disinfection of contact surfaces should be carried out every 3 hours, cleaning and disinfection of all premises at the end of the working day. There would be no spontaneous trade near agri- market.

As Ukrainian News reported, according to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the Cabinet of Ministers will consider opening food markets tentatively from May.

It may be mentioned that the mayor of Lviv, Andrei Sadovy, advocates the opening of food markets, despite quarantine.
