ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan will continue to play its reconciliatory role in the Afghan peace process, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

Talking to the US Charge D’ Affaires to Pakistan Paul W. Jones in Islamabad on Thursday wherein they discussed issues related to mutual interest and overall security situation in the region, the foreign minister said that development of the entire region is linked with peace in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile talking to media before his departure for Bishkek, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is leaving for Kyrgyzstan on a two-day visit to attend the 19th Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s (SCO) Council of the Heads of State.

Qureshi said that leaders from important Countries including Russia, China, Pakistan and India are participating in the SCO Summit. He said that the Meeting is primarily aimed at to dilate upon various measures to improve the regional security and economic situation through mutual efforts.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi added that in this regard, a meeting of SCO Council of Foreign Ministers was also in Bishkek on May 21-22, 2019. He said that the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers considered and finalized the documents and decisions to be signed by the SCO Leaders during the Council of the Heads of State meeting.

The foreign minister said that on the sideline of 19th Meeting of the SCO’s Council of the Heads of State, Prime Minister Imran Khan will hold bilateral meetings and consultations with leaders of the other Countries.
