US has raised no concerns with Pakistan over Axact fake degrees scam: FO

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office has said that no country including the United States has raised concerns with Pakistan over the issuance of fake degrees by the IT Company Axact, an allegation leveled by the New York Times (NYT).

In his weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, the Foreign Office Spokesman Qazi Khalil Ullah said that everybody is looking forward for investigation into the Axact scandal.

The Karachi-based IT Company Axact has been accused by a NYT report of earning millions of dollars by selling fake academic degrees online. However, the Company denied all charges leveled against it and termed the NYT story as baseless.

Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) under the direction of the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is carrying out a thorough investigation into the alleged involvement of Axact in the fake degrees scam.

“Investigations are underway and we have to wait for their completion,” the foreign office spokesman said.
