ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Daniel Feldman has appreciated sacrifices and efforts made by Pakistani security forces for peace and stability in South Asia.
The appreciation came when the US envoy held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed various issues related to mutual interest and regional security.
The US special representative also called on the prime minister’s adviser on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz in Islamabad.
On the occasion, the advisor said that cooperation between Pakistan and the United States is moving in the positive direction especially in defence, economy and energy sectors.
The adviser underscored the comprehensive measures taken by Pakistan to counter terrorism and extremism. He also briefed the US envoy about the improvement in Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan and the current status of relations with India.
In his remarks, the ambassador Daniel Feldman expressed deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by Pakistan in the efforts to root out terrorism and extremism and the success achieved so far.
