WASHINGTON: The United States wants a long-term economic and investment relationship with Pakistan, particularly in the energy field, the US special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Dan Feldman said.
In a joint conference co-hosted in Washington by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the US-Pakistan Business Council, the US special representative reiterated the US commitment to support economic and energy security of Pakistan.
It was also announced in the conference addressed by the USAID administrator Dr Rajiv Shah and the US special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan that the United States would support Pakistan for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha dam project.
On the occasion, the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that the government is committed to encouraging foreign investment in various sectors of the economy, particularly in Dasu and Bhasha dams.
Ishaq Dar said that building the 4500-MW Diamer Bhasha Dam is one of the top national priorities.
