LAHORE, Pakistan: The Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced to introduce Smart Cards as replacement of registration books of vehicles, aimed at bringing further ease in citizens’ lives.
Talking to media at the Directorate General Excise and Taxation in Lahore on Tuesday, Usman Buzdar said that from now onward, every vehicle will be registered via a Smart Card.
Usman Buzdar said that it would help eliminate the forgery. He said that now citizens wouldn’t have to carry vehicle registration books.
The Chief Minister said that they would further empower the state institutions. He said that neither they would indulge in any illegal activity nor they would let anyone to commit such offense.

The Punjab Chief Minister’s Spokesman Shahbaz Gill said that the process of issuing vehicle registration smart cards has begun across the province.
Shahbaz Gill said that 7,000 to 8,000 smart cards will be issued every day.
Punjab started issuing motor vehicle smart card. 7 to 8 thousand cards will be issued everyday.

Meanwhile sources said that a vehicle registration smart card will be available for Rs 530. They said that same amount would be charged for the registration smart card of both motorcycle and vehicle.
Sources further said that besides acquiring the new smart card, the old registration books could also be replaced with smart cards.
