TASHKENT, Uzbekistan: International electoral experts have observed that international electoral standards are being followed while conducting Presidential Elections in Uzbekistan.
Extraordinary early polls are set to take place on December 4 following the death of founding President Islam Karimov.
“Uzbekistan follows international electoral standards in conducting its Presidential Elections,” International electoral experts observed in a pre-election international conference titled “Constitutional – Legal Fundamental of the elections of the Head of the state: Experience of Uzbekistan and developed democratic countries”.
Observers were of the view that legal and fundamental rights of voters are (were) ensured through arrangements of international standard for Presidential Elections of Uzbekistan to be held on December 4, 2016.
A number of election observers who attended the conference second time said that Uzbekistan always follows international standards while conducting its Presidential Elections and legal and fundamental rights of voters are always ensured through arrangements of international standard. They hoped that Presidential Elections of Uzbekistan to be held on December 4, 2016 would follow same standards again.
This international Conference had three plenary sessions and each session dealt with fundamental and core issues related with election campaigns and holding of elections in reference to international standards.
Bakhtiyar Mirbabaev, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Uzbekistan moderated one of the most technical session explaining election rights and guarantee of realization of ensuring electoral rights of citizens and essential conditions to ensure democratic elections.
Third session was moderated by Svetlana Artikova, the Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oily Majlis. This session dealt with organizing and conducting democratic presidential elections in light of international and national experiences. Participants of this session were of the view that Uzbekistan follows (followed) international principle of conducting all elections including the Presidential Elections.
Participants said that openness in sharing information, fundamental right of freely observing elections and exhibiting all material related with elections before polling day help (helped) to conduct elections of international standards.
It may be mentioned that over 500 international observers and mediamen have already reached Uzbekistan to observe and report its early Presidential Elections to me held on December 4, 2016. Uzbekistan is going for early Presidential elections due to untimely sad demise of his founder President and Father of the nation late Islam Karimov.
