LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab Assembly member Uzma Bokhari along with her husband Samiullah Bokhari on Friday from the party’s basic membership, citing differences over policy matters with the party leadership, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
Talking to media persons, Bokhari said that there was no more place in the party for those who gave sacrifices and instead the party was paying attention towards all those who could benefit the party in the next elections.
“I was not given the respect I deserved in the party,” she complained. “I have resigned from my party membership as well as from Punjab Assembly.”
Bokhari was elected as a member of Punjab Assembly in 2002 and 2008 on special women seat. She was viewed as an active member of the PPP. She also served as Parliamentary Secretary of Culture and Youth Affairs wing.
Although, the former PPP MPA did not mention which party she would be joining in the future but sources said that the MPA and her husband would likely join Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
