WANA: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Naseerullah Khan Wazir has demanded the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mehmood Khan to announce a special relief package for damages caused by the inferno erupted in Rustam Bazaar Wana, district South Waziristan.
The fire broke out at the timber market in Wana, South Waziristan’s headquarters, on October 11 which engulfed over 100 shops in the market.
In a letter written to the Chief Minister, Naseerullah demanded a packed of Rs. 300 million for the affected people immediately, though the damages are colossal.
The letter reads, “It is brought to your kind notice that huge fire erupted in Wana Nazaar in Timber markets, and Fruit Mandies on October 11. However, due to the efforts of FC, district administration, rescue 1122, police and TMA Wana the fire was controlled.”
It is stated that almost 40 shops, 50 timber stores and fruit mandies were turned to ashes. The poor people of war-torn South Waziristan suffered losses of more than Rs 500 million.”
Naseerullah said that in the fire, property worth millions of rupees turned into ashes.
Therefore, he said that it is requested to announce packed of Rs 300 million for the affectees immediately.
The fire which has been raging for hours has reached the nearby vegetable market, destroying properties and businesses. Local administration with the help of local residents controlled the blaze.
