WASHINGTON: The White House has said it will announce in the coming days whether US President Barack Obama is going to visit Moscow during his planned trip to Russia for the G20 summit, said White House spokesman Jay Carney.
Carney confirmed that Obama plans to go to St. Petersburg in September for the international summit with other leaders from the world’s biggest economies.
However, his stop in Moscow is being re-evaluated because of the disagreement over the NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden and “other issues where we have failed to see eye-to-eye,” including Syria, Carney said.
