Independent Media Corporation (IMC) that owns daily Urdu newspaper Jang, English daily The News and Geo News is facing extended crises as newspaper hawkers association has decided not to distribute IMC newspaper over a commission dispute and delay of both papers at Akhbar market on regular basis.
On the other hand cable operators are not in mood to up Geo News after expiration of PEMRA ban over its transmission and suspension of its License for 15 days.
“We have no information that we will put Geo News on cable from tomorrow”, commented one cable operator who was asked about the status of on-air transmission of Geo News from June 20.
Another cable operator when asked said that:
How government take risk to open Geo News now when Pakistan Army is busy in operation against terrorists in North Wazirstan because Geo is habitual to spread confusion through its news and talk shows and country needs unity over this important issue.
Meanwhile when asked hawkers about latest situation of suspension of distribution of Jang and The News, one hawker said there is no unanimous decision but hawkers will not distribute papers if commission issue is not resolve by IMC.
