Woman killed for allegedly practicing witchcraft in India’s Bihar state

PATNA, India: A woman was beaten to death by her co-villagers for allegedly practicing witchcraft in Indian northern state of Bihar.

The incident took place in a village of East Champaran district in Bihar state.

The district superintendent of police Sudhir Kumar Singh said that 14 villagers had gathered to settle a land dispute with the woman’s family when they instead attacked her after accusing her of bringing illness and bad luck on the village through witchcraft.

The woman sustained critical injuries and was shifted to a hospital. Later, she succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

Singh said that the police are still investigation into the incident, adding that no arrests have been taken place yet.
