MULTAN: The foundation stone of the $7 billion Dasu hydropower project on the Indus River will be laid in November this year, the Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali told media on Monday after visiting Multan Electric Power Corporation (MEPCO) office.
The state minister said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided to construct Bhasha dam from the country’s own resources.
Abid Sher Ali said that two power projects having the capacity of 660 megawatts would be started in Sahiwal this month.
In addition, he said that five extension power projects will also be launched at Tarbela which would add 1,320 megawatt additional electricity to the national grid system.
