ISLAMABAD: The ‘World Day Against Child Labour’ was observed on Thursday to raise awareness of the plight of child laborers worldwide.
The day is observed every year on June 12 to focus attention on the global extent of child labour and the action and efforts needed to eliminate it.
The theme for this year’s day was “Extend social protection: combat child labour.”
In order mark the day, awareness walks, seminars and special campaigns arranged by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Employees Federation of Pakistan (EFP), the Association of Network for Community Empowerment (ANCE) and other stakeholders were held.
The ILO launched the ‘World Day Against Child Labour’ in 2002, aiming to raise awareness and activism to prevent child labour.
