ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Like elsewhere across the globe, World Diabetes Day will be observed in Pakistan on Tuesday (November 14) with an aim to educate public and create awareness about the facts of diabetes management and the dangers of its complications.
World Diabetes Day falls every year on November 14 and is a day when millions of people around the world come together to create awareness on diabetes and what it’s really like to live with the condition.
It’s a global campaign led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) with activity taking place around the world.
The theme for this year is ‘Women and Diabetes: Our right to a healthy future”.
The day was introduced in year 1991 by International Diabetes Federation (IDF), which is a worldwide alliance of more than 200 diabetes associations from all over the world. The purpose of IDF is to provide the masses information about diabetic care and preventions and also finding the cure of diabetes.
The November 14 is the date of birth of Frederick Banting who along with Charles Best invented insulin for treatment of diabetes patients way back in 1922.
In this connection, different government organisations and NGOs will conduct special walks, seminars, conferences and different events. They will conduct such activities in order to educate people with different healthcare tips to spend a healthy life.
