BANNU, Pakistan: The Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Monday that the military operation Zarb-e-Azb against the militants in North Waziristan is in fact a war for the survival and protection of Pakistan.
In his address to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Bannu on Monday, the Punjab chief minister said that the militants had paralyzed life through their activities and there was no way except to wage a war to flush them out.
Shahbaz paid tributes to the officers and jawans of Pakistan army who are fighting valiently to wipe out the militants from North Waziristan.
The Punjab chief minister further said that the whole nation stands by the IDPs and the government will provide all possible facilities to them in the camps and rehabilitate them after the operation.
Earlier, the Punjab chief minister arrived in Bannu to visit the IDPs of North Waziristan. He also inaugurated theassistance programme for the IDPs.
The Punjab government has also set up a Centre to help the IDPs in Bannu.
