LAHORE, Pakistan: The Zimbabwe cricket team will arrive in Lahore to play a limited over series with Pakistan as per schedule, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan announced on Friday.
Talking to media in Lahore on Friday, the PCB chairman said that Zimbabwe Cricket Chairman Wilson Manase has confirmed his team tour to Pakistan, saying Zimbabwe team will arrive in Pakistan on Tuesday.
On Thursday, Zimbabwe Cricket suspended the tour to Pakistan over security concerns after considering the advice from the country’s supreme sports regulatory authority, the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).
But later the Zimbabwe Cricket spokesman Lovemore Banda said that discussions were still in progress and no decision had been taken on cancelling the Pakistan tour.
The Zimbabwe team is scheduled to arrive in Lahore on May 19 to play two Twenty20 internationals and three one-day internationals (ODIs) between May 22 and 31 at the Gaddafi Stadium.
The announcement of tour cancellation followed a deadly terror attack in Karachi where at least 45 members of the Ismaili community were killed when unknown gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on their bus in Safoora Goth area on Wednesday.
Zimbabwe will be the first International Cricket Council (ICC) full-member nation to visit Pakistan since the 2009 terrorist attack on Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore.
