KARACHI: After becoming the first mobile operator in Pakistan to implement Biometric Verification System (BVS) at their customer service centers, Zong continues to show its commitment towards national security by expanding its BVS network throughout Pakistan.
Taking active steps towards this commitment, Zong is initially expanding its BVS network throughout Karachi and Balochistan. These endeavors are set to make a substantial contribution towards eliminating unregistered SIMs from Pakistan eventually by adhering to the directives of Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) and the government of Pakistan.
In the latter half of last year, Zong became the first telecom operator in Pakistan to introduce BVS in Pakistan in compliance with PTA directives. The high quality verification system introduced requires each citizen to approach one of their Retailer, Franchisee or Customer Service Centers of Zong and provide their fingerprints for authentication against CNIC data held with NADRA. Upon verification, the SIM will be activated. The entire operation via Zong’s BVS is performed online and is the fastest in the industry.
Talking about the ongoing expansion of Zong Biometric Verification System, Babar Bajwa, Executive Director Marketing Zong said: “Zong is a responsible corporate citizen that believes in becoming the torch bearer for the telecom industry of Pakistan by taking active steps for the enhancement of security protocols required by the government. The expansion of our state-of-the-art Biometric Verification System in all of Karachi and districts of Balochistan shows our pledge to deploy this system throughout Pakistan within the timelines set by the government of Pakistan. Alongside our commitment to provide the most prompt and comfortable customer experience at our service centers.”
