ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A 10-year national disaster management plan has been prepared to better deal with natural calamities, the Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Major General Muhammad Saeed Aleem said in an interview on Monday.
The Chairman NDMA said that under this long term comprehensive plan, necessary steps are being taken to avert losses in calamities.
Pakistan has been facing natural disasters in the past few years and there is a dire need to raise awareness amongst the public about risk and loss reduction in the floods and earthquakes, Saeed Aleem said.
The media, he said, in this regard can play an important role.
