GAZA CITY: A 12-hour long ceasefire began between Israel and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas on Saturday in the Gaza strip after both sides agreed to it brokered by the United Nations.

The temporary ceasefire which began at 7:00 am (0400 GMT) on Saturday would reportedly allow the delivery of humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza strip.

More than 860 Palestinians mostly civilians have been killed and thousands of others injured by the Israeli regime’s offensive in Gaza since July 8 despite pressure from the international community.
