BAGHDAD: At least 42 persons were killed while over a hundred sustained injuries in a series of car bomb explosions in predominantly Shi’ite neighborhoods of Baghdad in Iraq on Monday, police and medical sources said.

The deadliest attack occurred in Sadr City, where a car bomb blew up near a place where workers had gathered. It killed at least seven people, including two soldiers.
