STOCKHOLM: The 82-year-old Canadian Alice Munro won this year’s Nobel Prize in Literature on Thursday for her short stories that focus on the frailties of the human condition.

The Swedish Academy said while announcing the award that Ms. Munro is a “master of the contemporary short story.”
