ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office on Monday strongly condemned the blast in the Turkish Capital Ankara which caused deaths of at least 34 persons and injuries to over 100.

The explosion was caused by a bomb-laden car and it occurred in Guven Park in the Kizilay district of Central Ankara on Sunday night.

“Pakistan condemns this heinous act of terrorism in the strongest terms and, like always, stands in strong solidarity with Turkey,” said a statement issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Monday.

“We offer our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families and to the brotherly people and government of Turkey. We also pray for the speediest and fullest recovery of those wounded.”

The statement further reiterated that Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

“We also reiterate our belief that the fraternal people of Turkey would decisively defeat the scourge of terrorism with their characteristic strong will and determination,” it said

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also strongly condemned the Ankara blast and expressed sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives in the incident.

In a message, the prime minister said that the people and government of Pakistan are deeply saddened and share the grief of their Turkish brethren at this critical moment.

The prime minister said that terrorism is common threat and it is a collective responsibility to fight it. He said that Pakistan stands firm against every act of terror anywhere in the world.
