ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi Monday said that under the National Action Plan (NAP), Pakistan has targeted all terrorist groups without distinction.
He was talking to State Commissioner for Counter-Terrorism and Security of China Cheng Guoping who called on him at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.
Fatemi highlighted Pakistan’s sacrifices and significant contribution to the global fight against terrorism.
He briefed Cheng about Pakistan’s NAP to combat terrorism that had yielded very positive results, said a press release.
Fatemi lauded the elevation of relations between the two countries to the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and said that friendship with China was the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
He appreciated that Pakistan and China enjoyed complete unanimity of views and excellent cooperation in counter-terrorism and security matters.
He also apprised his Chinese interlocutor about the measures taken by Pakistan about safety and security of Chinese nationals including those working on various projects related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Cheng Guoping said that China and Pakistan have close pragmatic cooperation in the counter terrorism and security domain.
The two countries maintained a well-coordinated information sharing and enforcement mechanism in this regard.
He appreciated Pakistan’s role in combating terrorism and the support and assistance provided by it to China in combating ETIM perpetrated terrorism.
The Chinese State Commissioner expressed complete satisfaction over the efforts and arrangements made for safety and security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan.
Both sides agreed to continue their close coordination on the issues related to counter-terrorism and security in the interest of maintaining regional and global peace and stability, both at bilateral level as well as in multilateral forums.
