ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah on Monday said no one objected to the appointment of new Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), adding he was a non-controversial personality.
Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has been appointed as the new Chairman NAB by President Mamnoon Hussain for a period of four years.
Talking to media representatives at Parliament House in Islamabad, Khursheed Shah urged opposition parties to avoid making new Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal as controversial. He said the new Chairman NAB was enjoying excellent reputation nobody could dare dictating him.
The Opposition Leader said the names provided by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) for new Chairman NAB was also discussed by him and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Khursheed Shah vowed making better decisions for the betterment of the Country, adding the conspiracies could be foiled with the help of Parliament.
The president appointed Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal as the Chairman NAB under section 6(b) of National Accountability Ordinance 1999 after making consultations with the Leader of the House and the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly.
Responding to a question, Khursheed Shah expressed the hope that he and the prime minister could also decide about caretaker set up after completion of the tenure of current assemblies in June 2018.
