TORONTO, Canada: The Canadian politicians have praised the positive and constructive role being played by the Pakistani Community in Canada for further strengthening of Pakistan-Canada relationship.
In an Impressive Ceremony held at Markham Town Hall in Toronto for Pakistan Day Celebration, the participating Canadian politicians highlighted the importance of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Canada.
In the Ceremony, the government of Ontario was represented by Honourable Michael Chan, Minister of International Trade, Rob Oliphant, Yasmin Ratansi and Hon Iqra Khalid, Members Parliament, Mayor of Markham His Worship Frank Scarpitti and Dr. Shafiq Qaadri, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.
The Ceremony started with recitation from the Holy Quran. The messages of the President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi were read out by the Consul General of Pakistan Imran Ahmed Siddiqui.
The Consul General raised the Pakistan flag to the tune of the national anthem in the presence of Canadian parliamentarians, members of diplomatic Corp and Pakistani Community.
The Canadian dignitaries including HW Frank Scarpitti, Mayor of Markham, Hon Yasmin Ratansi, Hon. Michael Chan, Minister of International Trade, Hon Rob Oliphant, Member of Parliament, Hon Iqra Khalid, Member of Parliament, Dr. Shafiq Qaadri, MPP, Mr. Erik Jolliffee, York Regional Police Cheifi also delivered speeches.
The Premier of Ontario, Hon. Khatleem Wyne sent messages of felicitations on the occasion which were read out by Hon. Michael Cha.
On this occasion two documentaries titled “Ancient Pakistan” and Emerging Pakistan” were also screened.
