LAHORE, Pakistan: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore on Friday arrested the President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif for his alleged invovlement in billion of rupees corruption in Ashiana Housing Scheme. (Shahbaz Sharif arrested).
The arrest came as part of an ongoing inquiry into the alleged embezzlement in Ashiana Housing Scheme.
The NAB had summoned Shahbaz Sharif today in the Ashiana Housing Scheme Case but when he reached at the NAB Office in Lahore he was taken into the custody.
Sources said that Shahbaz Sharif was arrested over the revelations made by his former Principal Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad.
As per the NAB press release, Shahbaz Sharif will be produced before the Accountability Court in Lahore tomorrow.
Meanwhile, heavy contingents of Rangers and police personnel were deployed outside NAB Office in Lahore.

Shahbaz Sharif arrested by NAB in Ashiana Housing Scheme Case
Sources said that Shahbaz Sharif was arrested following the permission granted by the Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser. They said that as per the rules, the Speaker National Assembly must officially be informed about the arrest of a member of the Lower House.
It is pertinent to mention here that since November 2017, NAB has also been carrying an inquiry into the alleged corruption in 56 Public Sector Companies formed by the Shahbaz Sharif administration in Punjab.
