ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that Asia Bibi is our national and Pakistan fully respects her legal rights.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi made these remarks while talking to the Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland who telephoned him on Monday.
During the telephonic conversation, the two foreign ministers discussed the issue of Asia Bibi among other issues.
The Canadian foreign minister appreciated the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s courageous decision in blasphemy case and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s positive speech in the wake of countrywide outrage against the decision, the Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Mohamad Faisal told on Twitter on Tuesday.
Canadian FM telephoned FM Qureshi yesterday. Among other issues, Asia Bibi was discussed. Canadian FM appreciated Supreme Court’s courageous decision & PM’s positive speech. (1/2)

The Supreme Court of Pakistan in its judgement on October 31, 2018 acquitted the blasphemy accused Christian female Asia Bibi.
Dr Fauzia Siddiqui meets Shah Mahmood Qureshi
Meanwhile, Dr Fauzia Siddiqui, the sister of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, met the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad on Tuesday and exchanged views about bringing back Dr Aafia Siddiqui to Pakistan.
The foreign minister apprised Fauzia Siddiqui of government’s efforts regarding Aafia Siddiqui’s case.

I’ve asked our Counsel General in Houston to seek regular Consular visits and ensure Dr Siddiqui’s well being in line with her legal & human rights.
