NEW DELHI, India: The protest demonstration and a candle light vigil will be held in New Delhi on Wednesday (December 19) against the gruesome murder of 14 innocent civilians by the Indian security forces in Pulwama.
Last Saturday, the security forces opened fire on civilians peacefully protesting the encounters and military actions in Pulwama, a district in Indian Occupied Kashmir, resulting in the martyrdom of 14 innocent Kashmiris and injuries to more than 200 protesters.
In a bid to lodge a strong protest against the Indian massacre of innocent Kashmiris, a number of Indian organizations will stage a protest demonstration and candle light vigil in Jantar Mantar area of New Delhi on December 19.
The demonstration will be attended by National Alliance of People’s Movements, Khudai Khidmatgar, People’s Union for Civil Liberties Delhi, Delhi Solidarity Group, Samjwadi Yuvjan Sabha, Sadbhav Mission, Pakistan India People’s Forum for Peace and Democracy, National Movement Front, and many other organisations, groups and individuals.
“We condemn this brutal killing by security forces and call upon everyone to join citizens’ protest on December 19th at 4 PM at Jantar Mantar,” said a joint statement issued by the Indian organizations.
The statement said that Kashmir conflict can’t be resolved through constant killings of one’s own citizens and suppression of fundamental rights of people in this country.
“Kashmir needs a political resolution,” it said.
