The Turkish local elections were held on March 31, 2019 (Sunday) throughout the 81 provinces of the Country.
As per the preliminary results, Tayyip Erdogan’s Justice and Development Party or AKP which along with the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) contested the elections in many provinces under a joint People’s Alliance won more than 51 percent of the vote in the municipal elections. However the AKP lost control of the Capital Ankara for the first time in nearly two decades.
